Why

I was involved in a web site back when FidoNet was new. In fact, the consultants working with us at the time claimed that our web site was one of the first 100 ever, in the world. If you know of a way I could prove or disprove this, please let me know. In terms of the timeline, it's probably safe to say it was one of the first 1,000 web sites, ever. And in either case, I'm sure it's safe to say I was one of the first woman webmasters, ever. Whatever. I'm still working on the site, even though I don't get paid for it anymore, and I still haven't made my first million.

I created a web site about my oldest nephew Sam possibly as early as August of 1993, possibly shortly after Halloween of 1994, possibly in August of 1995, and possibly in April of 1996; the only date I know for sure is when it was last updated (August 1996). But I never created a site for myself, probably because I never had much to say.

But now that I have a lot of time on my hands, I've been playing with PHP and MySQL, doing some research about web communities, enjoying the open source movement, and figured I might as well put a web site together. It started with the Finster Log (since I love to tell stories about the birds), and frankly most of the site will probably be about them. But who knows what will happen.

What

Everything is made on a Mac.

The Finster Log (and a few other things on the site) is powered by Nucleus CMS. If you like to tweak HTML and CSS, and aren't afraid of PHP, then this is the script for you.

When

All of this was started early September, 2002.
