Earl Grey Got Stuck In The Lettuce

Posted on: 04/10/04, 13:51:47 | no comments | link
Earl Grey, handsome, and not stuck anymore
While putting groceries away, I noticed that Earl Grey had one of his toes stuck in the lettuce. He was perched on the edge of the water dish, head almost in the water, trying to pull away. Then he noticed I was watching him, so he froze for a few seconds. I looked away, and he hopped off the water dish, lettuce leaf dragging along behind him. His foot didn't seem twisted — it's a pretty big lettuce leaf, so he might have gotten hurt — and he didn't seem panicked, so I walked away for a minute. When I looked back, he was free.

I'm sure he meant to do that.

Just goes to show that birds can get stuck (and possibly hurt) by the darndest things. Click here for a close-up; you can see a bit of green on his beak from eating the lettuce.
