Nobody Believes Me

Mary from Parrot Musings thought it was cute that Harley had squeezin's all stuck to his beak at Thanksgiving. I said, "Boy, do I have a picture for you!" And I do.

It amazes me that people never believe I have Mad Skillz when it comes to the internets. Sure, I never made millions, but I really was one of the first 100 webmasters on the internets. So if I tell you "be careful, or I'll put a picture of that on the internets" you should believe me. Really.

I warned Harley, but here he is, sitting on the edge of the dog bowl, on his breakfast bar, ignoring me. With the biggest almond sliver stuck to his beak. The BIGGEST. EVER.

I mean, yeah, it's kind of cute, right? But no way will it get him any girls.

Yeah. What was he thinking?

I will never forget the time our finch hen Hildegard had a seed hull stuck to her forehead, just above the cere and right between the eyes. It was in her one real blind spot; she had no idea it was there, and she looked kind of like Johnny Carson as Karnak the fortune-teller, with the envelope stuck to his head. She was so serious and dignified... and that seed hull on her face was the funniest thing ever.

It's the human equivalent of having a big gob of spinach stuck on the top of your head.

That is a great picture! I'm tickled that you thought of me! (I've been bogged down at work so have not had a chance to read blogs until today).

That's so big, you'd think he could see it in his peripheral vision, but maybe it's in a parrot's blind spot, given the location of their eyes...

Maybe he decided to save it there, to snack on later.
